From Chris Poelma, Chief Executive Officer, Residex®
Dear Residex® Customers and Partners,
As we look toward the year ahead, I’m proud to share our first annual State of the Business update—a new tradition designed to give you clearer visibility into where Residex® is today, where we are going, and the investments we’re making to support your teams, your communities, and the residents you serve.
You Asked, and We Listened
Your feedback has driven some of our most impactful advancements this year. In direct response to what you shared with us:
- Thea® AI has become a significant accelerator for the Residex® platform – saving communities an average of 1,250 hours annually. It streamlines staff scheduling, callouts, clinical assessments, repetitive task completion, and other routine workflows. And we’re just getting started: our roadmap includes upcoming skills in Charting, Analytics, Incident Notifications, and additional areas that will continue reducing administrative burden for your teams.
- Billing improvements were a top priority, so we’ve added extensive updates from billing workflow, claims submission to multi-payor capabilities, Claims Management, integrated Payment Processing and more.
- You highlighted the importance of elevating workforce management and scheduling, so through our Kevala acquisition we added advanced scheduling, workforce management, and VMS capabilities—now fully integrated into the Residex platform.
- Usability and flexibility matter, so we released a more intuitive, modern User Interface (UI) with greater customization and ease of use.
- Support expectations continue to rise, so we expanded our Customer Support team by 38%, increased training, and enhanced the tools and capabilities they use to support your communities.
- You called for continued innovation, and in 2026 we will deliver new advancements across AI skills, Billing, Clinical, Analytics, and Resident & Community Engagement.
- We are establishing our Client Advisory Board (CAB) led by Patrick Lawler Chief Customer Officer (CCO) & Kevala co-founder to bring customer insight directly into early concept reviews and long-term product direction.
- We launched Connected Care Solutions (CCS), led by Todd Owens CCS President and Kevala co-founder to strengthen and expand our clinical and connected-care ecosystem.
These improvements reflect our commitment to continuous development and our mission to build the most responsive, intuitive, and comprehensive senior living platform in the industry.
A Year of Significant Growth and Purposeful Investment
2025 marked one of the most transformative years in our company’s history. We expanded the Residex team across product development, engineering, client success, care services, analytics, and support—ensuring we have the strength and scale to move the platform forward rapidly.
Our CARE Guide has documented major improvements across compliance, resident care, medication management, billing, workforce management, and analytics. The platform continues to grow in both depth and intelligence, shaped directly by your insights and the operational needs of senior living.
Stronger Together: Integrating Kevala Into Residex Scheduling
The integration of the Kevala scheduling platform is fully integrated into the Residex Scheduling Suite which brings together forecasting, labor controls, staffing intelligence, and VMS management into one unified solution—streamlined through Thea® AI.
This milestone strengthens our ability to deliver a true end-to-end operating system for senior living.
AI That Lightens Work—Not Adds to It
A core focus for 2025–2026 is responsible, practical AI. Residex continues to strengthen Thea®, our AI engine designed around simple, task-driven automations that reduce manual work and support faster, more accurate operations.
Rather than focusing on counts or volume of capabilities, our goal is to ensure Thea delivers meaningful, reliable assistance across documentation, staffing insights, quality, compliance, and everyday workflows.
Our philosophy remains foundational:
AI should do work for you.
AI should never create more work you have to do.
And critically, AI will never replace the empathy, judgment, or human connection of caregiving. Instead, our goal is to remove administrative friction so your teams can spend more time with your residents and less time on a keyboard.
New Initiatives Designed Around Customer Partnership
2026 will bring several initiatives that deepen your influence on our roadmap and expand the value of the platform:
